Struggling to Stay Fit? Let’s Have A Chat.

Establishing a routine when it comes to taking care of your health may be one of the most difficult things that you encounter. At a time like this, where everything is easing and we’re all getting used to the non-lockdown life once again, it’s important we manage our health, create a new fitness routine and ensure we strive to look after ourselves on many different avenues.

More often then not, we’re bombarded with the excessive amount of information on the internet and can actually find the information overload overwhelming rather than helpful. To simplify this, we’ve written this short guide to help you create a simple, easy-to-follow routine.

Creating a new fitness routine.

What’s the first step in creating a fitness routine you can stick to? Keep on reading to find out…

First of all, create a schedule to see your GP regularly. It’s important to keep on top of your blood work and get regular checkups to ensure that everything is functioning well behind the scenes.

As we always say, prevention is always the best treatment, so please talk to us by booking an online appointment.

How to create a schedule?

Answer the following questions:

  • What is my ultimate goal?
  • How much time do I have every week to exercise? (write it down and add it up)
  • What time of day suits best for me to workout?
  • Would I rather exercise on a full or empty stomach?

By answering these simple questions, you create the basis for which you’re new workout plan will be built upon. Knowing your ultimate goal, which should involve aspects of optimising your health, allows you to structure your plan in a way that will lead to your eventual success in achieving that goal.

Secondly, determine how many days you want to lift weight (strength training) – which is vital for enhancing your metabolism and keeping that body furnace going – and how many days you want to pursue cardiovascular training. Preferably, if you can squeeze in some form of cardio, whether it’s a short morning walk, a few 100m sprints or a quick jog around the block before you sleep will allow you to create some form of consistency.

Remember, keeping consistent, persistent and keeping your end goal in mind is the key to achieving success. By creating a routine and religiously abiding by it, you will benefit in multitudes, both in terms of your mental health and physical health. Plus, you’ll severely reduce the risk of you developing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, ensuring your longevity!
